LAHORE - The city on Friday got a rare hail fall in Sanda and few other areas, extending the winter spell in the region.
The hailing came as a surprise for Lahorites, who were experiencing somewhat hot weather in the spring season.
Rain also lashed isolated places in upper KP, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur divisions in last 24 hours.  Islamabad has received maximum 21mm rain followed by Bahawalnagar 20mm, Sahiwal 14mm, Bhakkar 13mm, NPT 10mm, Rawalpindi 09mm, LowerDir mm and Muzaffarabad 06 while Astore received Trace snowfall.
The minimum temperature was recorded at Kalam 06C followed by Quetta -05C, Astore -04C and Kalat -03C whereas pollen count yesterday remained as 24 per m3 of air.
The Met Office predicted rain with thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills at isolated places of Malakand and Hazara divisions of Upper Khyber Pakthunkhwa during next 24 hours.
According to Met Office, the rain is expected due to a shallow westerly wave, which is still prevailing over Kashmir and its adjoining areas and is likely to persist over northern areas of the country during next two to three days. Nathia Gali, Ayubia in Abbottabad district, Kalam and  Malam Jabba in Swat district are also expected to receive thunderstorm rain and snowfall over the hills.
According to Daily Mail, the globe cozied up to the fourth warmest January on record this year, essentially leaving just the eastern half of the United States out in the cold.  And the northern and eastern United States can expect another blast of cold weather next week. 
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported Thursday that Earth was 1.17 degrees warmer in January than the 20th century average.
