Mumbai- Television reports claim that Sonam Kapoor has tested positive for swine flu and is being flown back to Mumbai from Gujarat, where she was shooting for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
According to an NDTV report the actress has been in Gujarat for last 10 days. She had complained of a soar throat and fever and was therefore admitted to a Rajkot hospital. On being tested positive for swine flu, arrangements were made for a chartered flight was to fly her back to Mumbai, NDTV quoted a source. Reportedly, the actress' physical trainer has also been tested positive for swine flu.
However, IANS has quoted a source contradicting reports of the actress suffering from swine flu. The news agency quoted the source saying, "Sonam does not have swine flu as the rumours are claiming. She went to the hospital just for a blood test and X-ray. She is not even hospitalised. She had cough and fever, so she had gone for a check up,".
There was also news that filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, his wife Anupama Chopra and their son are down with swine flu, which has affected over 12,000 people across India.
Anupama, a noted film critic, tweeted: "Folks, I have been felled by swine flu. So no reviews this week. Do send me yours - tell me what I missed."
Meanwhile, her filmmaker husband was reportedly admitted to the Jaslok Hospital along with his son. But they got discharged Saturday morning, a hospital official told IANS.
"He and his son got discharged today morning... They were hospitalised 26 February," the source said.
Swine flu has been spreading steadily like wild fire across the country but one of the worst hit states is Gujarat.
In a rather unexpected move, Ahmedabad district collector has invoked the Criminal Procedure Code's Section 144 in Ahmedabad on 25 February, prohibiting mass gatherings without prior permission in order to prevent swine flu, an official statement stated.
The move has come after Gujarat registered more than 230 swine flu deaths, which include more than 50 fatalities in Ahmedabad, since January this year.
The number of positive cases swine flu recorded in Gujarat is 3,527 and the disease has caused the highest number of deaths in Gujarat compared to other states in the country.
However, the Collector has exempted people gathering at marriages and death processions from Section 144.
