Wah Cantt - The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved the first phase of establishment of 100-bedded state-of-the-art hospital at Wah Cantt.

The assistant commissioner Taxila Shahid Imran who is focal person for the project while talking to newsmen here on Saturday said that PDWP have given go ahead signal of the Rs 1.325 billion project of the establishment of the state of the art hospital at GT road near Wah. He said that the party given approval of the first phase in which 100-bedded hospital would be constructed which would be later extended up to 500 beds. Department has approved the project and district government Rawalpindi has finalised the PC-1 of the said hospital.

It may be mentioned here that due to paucity of staff and health facilities in the area, on the demands of the masses Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has performed ground breaking ceremony of the project on June 1 last year. As the residents of Taxila and Wah Cantonment needed another hospital as tehsil headquarters hospital in Taxila was not sufficient to meet the requirement of the residents.

Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah donated 96 kanals of land for the hospital and a board of governors led by POF chief and commandant POF hospital will look after its affairs.
