Islamabad - President Supreme Court Bar Association, Ali Zafar has urged the lawyers to take execution of Mumtaz Qadri as a routine matter and refrain from the boycott of court’s proceedings.
Giving reaction over the execution of Mumtaz Qadri, the SCBA president said the execution of Qadri is positive development that the rule of law has been enforced but, he said, there should not be celebrations over any execution.
He believes that Supreme Court has played an essential role for maintaining writ of state in the country, adding that Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has given landmark judgement in Qadri case.
Ali believes that principally he is against the death penalty but the country’s prevailing circumstances demand that death penalty should not be abolished.
Newly elected Islamabad High Court Bar Association President Tariq Jahangiri said he did not announce the boycott as it was decision of Islamabad Bar Council. “We are with rule of law. Decision of SC and Islamabad High Court is binding on every citizen,” he added.
