Pemra Chairman Ch Rashid Ahmed held a meeting with the newly-elected representative body of the Cable Operators Association of Pakistan here Tuesday, says a press release.

Pemra Regional General Manager, Abid Saeed, was also present in the meeting. CAP President Malik Furqan briefed the chairman about the issues being faced by them.

Ch Rashid assured to redress their issues through dialogue and interaction with the CAP representatives. He urged the CAP to abide by the PEMRA rules and regulations and create a progressive environment for a healthy competition among the broadcast media across the country. He also directed all the stakeholders of the electronic media industry to follow the code of conduct devised by the Election Commission of Pakistan during the upcoming general elections in letter and spirit. The chairman said PEMRA is expecting to have law-abiding and cooperative response from the newly-elected body of the CAP to help the ECP conducting free, fair and transparent elections.  The CAP representatives assured the chairman their cooperation for effective implementation of PEMRA laws across the country.  Responding to the issues raised by the CAP, the chairman said that PEMRA was conscious of the difficulties being faced by the industry. He said that issues would be resolved through mutual understanding and nobody would be subjected to victimisation.
