RAWALPINDI - Five teachers , who are facing trial for their alleged role in leaking primary class paper have been freed from Adial Jail here on Wednesday. These teachers are accused of leaking English language paper of 5th class, prepared by the Punjab Examination Commission.
The other day, special judge Anti Corruption Rawalpindi had accepted their bail plea. Those who were set free are Gulzar Hussain Raja (principal Abbasi High School), senior teachers Zulfikar Ahmed, Zahid Iqbal and others.
During the hearing of the bail plea, the said teachers through their lawyers had contended before the court that they had nothing to do with the alleged paper leaking issue.
The counsel for the teachers , Sardar Naseer Ahmed Sagheer had contended that FIR had been registered on the basis of three inquirers, which are contradicting each other. He told the court that in the one inquiry report, the government claimed that the packet containing question paper was slightly damaged while in the other report the government claimed that packet was torn. After hearing both sides, the court had decided the matter in favour of the teachers .
However, the other day, the said teachers could not be released as their lawyers could not complete legal formalities before official time. However, on Wednesday, the lawyers and teachers community managed to complete all formalities and got their colleagues released form the Jail.
On April 15, Anti Corruption Establishment on the request of Punjab government had registered an FIR against eight teachers for their alleged role in leaking English language paper of fifth class on February 9, 2014.
Subsequently, five teachers were arrested while two others had got pre-arrest bail and one was given clean chit by the Anti-Corruption Court as his name was wrongfully added in the FIR.
