Karachi: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdul Fateh was shot dead, along with his security guard and driver, in an ambush in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Karachi today.

According to police, unidentified assailants opened fire on the car of the deceased police official. Police sources, Fateh and security guard died on the spot, whereas three more security guards were injured in the attack. DSP Abdul Fateh was posted at Bin Qasim area, in the jurisdiction of Malir town.

The two other victims were identified as Head Constable Muhammad Farooq and driver Nazir.

The dead bodies were shifted to hospital for medico legal formalities. Police has cordoned off the area and started search operation.

Fateh was reportedly present at the press conference held by SSP Rao Anwar on April 30, during which the SSP had alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), maintains connections with India’s spy agency RAW. He was later suspended by the Inspector General Sindh for making such comments.
