Five soldiers, 27 militants dead in Khyber fighting

ISLAMABAD - Five army soldiers, including a captain, were martyred while 27 terrorists killed in clashes in Khyber Agency, said Inter-Services Public Relations on Thursday.
The security forces killed 27 terrorists and captured their important strongholds during the past 24 hours in various areas of Khyber Agency.
According ISPR, five security personnel including an officer, Captain Ajmal, were also martyred in the operation. It further said the security forces also captured four strongholds of the terrorists at Sandapal, Tordara, Kundwala and Mehrban Killay areas.
The security forces have been fighting terrorists in the picturesque Tirah valley where apart from the terrorists belonging to various groups including Lashkar-i-Islam of Mangal Bagh had converged from other parts of Fata.
The security forces have successfully wiped out hardened terrorists and purged large portion of the valley bordering Afghanistan of the terrorists.
This has been possible after the armed forces launched Khyber-1 and Khyber-2 operations under operation Zarb-e-Azb last year and caused serious blow to the terrorists who had converged in Tirah valley to make it their new operational base after suffering defeat in North and South Waziristan.
