NOORPUR THAL: The officials led by the Assistant Commissioner raided different shops over complaints of overcharging and seized different daily-used items.

The team led by AC Ch Ali Atif Buttar included the tehsildar and TMO.  A huge quantity of edibles, including biscuits, cold drinks, cooking oil and milk were sized from different shops.  The AC advised the shopkeepers and traders to follow the rules and regulations and avoid profiteering and black marketing, adding that no one would be allowed to fleece public and create artificial shortage of essentials. He directed the shopkeepers to display lists at visible points of their shops. He said that strict action will be taken against those found profiteering and hoarding foodstuffs. –Staff Reporter

The administration also imposed fines on shopkeepers for overcharging and selling expired and substandard commodities.
