Islamabad - Shortage of funds has been hampering the construction of Central Police Office (CPO) in sector G-11/4 for more than one and a half years.

According to Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) district administration sources, the project was started in 2013 when initial funds were allocated during the tenure of Chief Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mehmood Pirzada.

Since then, no additional funds have been earmarked to complete the under-construction building.

Once funds are provided, the building could be completed in about six months, the sources said.

It may be mentioned that the CPO has been recently moved from Sector F-7/4 to a building at Police Lines Headquarters, which had originally been built for a wireless complex or a control room for Capital Police.

The offices of Inspector General of Police (IGP), three assistant IGPs and two deputy IGPs are now functioning at the Police Lines Headquarters. Around 150 employees work in these offices.
