KARACHI - The Grand Democratic Alliance has warned the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) provincial government to stop victimisation of the party workers and supporters or else get ready to face the music as the GDA would wheel-jammed the entire Sindh in case of further ignorance.

Addressing the media on Saturday after the GDA meeting, Ayaz Latif Palijo said the alliance had initiated a movement against the Sindh government’s incompetency and poor performance.

During the demonstration in Umerkot, Hyderabad and other parts of the province the participants registered their protest in a peaceful manner. No violence was reported during the demos but the provincial rulers seem quit angry with the situation and are victimising the party workers and supporters by lodging fake FIRs against them.

“We have shown patience but if the PPP does not change its attitude then the GDA will wheel-jammed the entire province from Karachi to Kandhkot,” warned Palijo. He said during the last three years, Prime Minister Nawaz had been ignoring the province and also kept silence over the massive corruption of the provincial rulers. Nawaz should learn from Panama Leaks and must unveil that the PPP stands with him over the issue. He further announced that during the today’s meeting, the party has decided to hold public gathering in August.

To a query, the GDA leader said the federal government representatives in the alliance had raised various issues especially holding of census in Sindh.

Former member of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Zulfiqar Mirza stated that the residents of Sindh had tired of their rulers who were thieves and dacoits in nature. The GDA has become the voice of the residents of Sindh as the people have rejected the elements involved in massive corruption.

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional chief Pir Pagara Sibghatullah Shah Rashidi stated the corruption cases in Sindh should be trialed first in Sindh High Court, however, the issue of Panama Leaks should also be probed. He said the provincial rulers were responsible for the destruction of the institutions. The GDA had come up with an agenda to fight with the persons who are carrying out corruption in the province.

Talking about the Panama Leaks, he said the common man of Sindh was not aware of the issue while the situation had not gone worse if the Prime Minister has wrote a letter to Panama earlier. He predicted that the situation will get further worse regarding the Panama Leaks issue. The victimisation of the GDA workers and supporters is creating impatience among them.

Arbab Ghulam Rahim said the PPP had destroyed the entire province while in past the party-led government provided relief to people.  Irfanullah Marwat announced holding a workers convention on June 5. The convention will initiate a new movement. “We do not believe in revenge politics but will take the PPP-led government to its logically end.”

Earlier, the GDA held a meeting at Kangri House to discuss future strategy of the movement initiated against the government. Sindh former chief minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim, federal minister Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Pir Sadaruddin Shah Rashdi, Zulfiqar Mirza, Irfanullah Marwat, Makhdum Fazal and others attended the meeting.
