Mum-of-eight murdered by husband for ‘honour’

LAHORE - A mother of eight children was murdered by her husband for ‘honour’ at their house in Satu Katla police precincts early yesterday. The body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy.

Police identified the victim as 40-year-old Shamim Bibi. She was strangulated to death by her husband Iqbal when she was sleeping in the bedroom.

Iqbal later reached the Satu Katla police station and courted his arrest. The killer told the police investigators that he murdered his wife because “she was a characterless (lady).” According to duty officer, Mujahid, the incident appeared to be a case of ‘honour killing’.

The police registered a murder case against the husband and are investigating. Further investigation was underway.

BODY found: The body of a young man packed in a sack was discovered from the fields in Kahna area yesterday morning. The body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy.

Police investigators identified the victim as Muhammad Ajmal, the resident of a nearby village. A police officer said that two relatives of the victim were arrested in connection with the killing. The police also registered a case against unidentified killers and are investigating.

FOUND DEAD: A 50-year-old man was discovered dead from Shahdara police precincts yesterday morning. The body, unidentified so far, was moved to the morgue for autopsy.

A police investigator said the man was lying dead alongside a footpath as they reached the spot. Some passersby spotted the body in the morning and contacted the police by phone. The police are investigating.
