Sit-in holders hindering welfare projects: CM

LAHORE - Without naming the PTI on its protest threats to government Panama leaks issue, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said those who are fond of holding sit-ins and politics of protest are trying to create hurdles in the welfare programmes initiated for the poor.

These leaders do not have any in their betterment of the poor, the chief minister said while talking to provincial minister for Baitul Maal Syed Haroon Sultan who called on him here yesterday.

Shehbaz Sharif people were fully aware of the designs of those elements and they would again fail their sit-ins. He said that the journey of progress and prosperity of the country would continue.

Chief Minister said that a large number of people are benefiting from the welfare programmes worth billions of rupees launched by the provincial government. He said that Khidmat Card Programme is also continuing successfully for providing financial assistance to disabled persons and more than 65000 deserving disabled persons have been issued Khidmat Cards so far under this programme.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif has said that getting loans written off is a serious crime and strict accountability of such elements as indulged in this practice is essential.

He was talking to senior journalists, editors, columnists and anchorpersons at Governor House, yesterday.

He said that corruption of those who got their loans written off has been proved and the State Bank has their list. He said the names of those who usurped earnings of poor people deposited in banks have come to the fore.

He said that the families which got their loans written off also have off-shore companies. He said that those who got their loans written off will have to face accountability.
