A spokesperson of local administration said on Saturday that price control magistrates inspected 934 shops in different markets and bazaars of Faisalabad and found dozens of shopkeepers involved in profiteering and overcharging. Therefore, the magistrates imposed a total fine on shopkeepers and warned the profiteers that they would be sent behind bars if they did not mend their way of profiteering, he added.
13 beggars caught
The Social Welfare Department has caught 13 beggars from various chowks, intersections and roads of the city during past 12 hours.
Social Welfare Officer Muhammad Tahir said here on Saturday that anti-beggary campaign was in full swing in the city and 13 habitual beggars were rounded up today from Nishatabad, Sheikhupura Road, Jamia Chishtia Chowk, Lasani Pulli Sargodha Road, Zila Council Chowk, Chenab Club Chowk, Samanabad, Sitiana Road, Jalvi Market, Serena Hotel Road, Jhang Road and Allied Hospital. These habitual beggars were later on handed over to the area police while further action against them was under way, he added.
3 die in different incidents
Three persons were killed in different incidents in Faisalabad during the past 12 hours.
Rescue-1122 spokesperson said on Saturday that a speeding motorcycle collided with a road divider near Salooni Jhal on Sammundri Road.
As a result, a patient Muhammad Ishtiaq (42) being carried on the bike fell in the nearby Rakh Branch Canal and died after drowning, whereas motorcyclist Muhammad Adnan (18) and his pillion-rider Muhammad Iqbal (35) of Lodhran were sifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Sammundri. In other accident, 30-year old Kashif was killed while 17-year old Qasim received injuries when a speeding mini loader van hit another van near Flour Mill on Faisalabad-Jaranwala Road.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Jameel (55) was shot dead by his rivals over a monetary dispute in Quaid-e-Azam Millat Town and the body was shifted to mortuary for postmortem.
The police registered separate cases and started investigation.
Evening shift for pet care
District Livestock Department has initiated evening shift for the care of pets at its veterinary hospitals and dispensaries across the district here.
According to Deputy Director Livestock Dr Shafqat Mehmood, the livestock department evolved a comprehensive strategy to facilitate the people regarding treatment of their pet animals.
Earlier, veterinary doctors were available for treatment of pet animals in the morning shift only and more than 3,000 pets were treated on monthly basis during that shift. Under the new decision the veterinary doctors would be available in the evening also in order to facilitate people in getting medical treatment for their pets, informed the official.
