LAHORE - Lahore with 1156 points won the Punjab Girls Under-16 Sports Gala that concluded here at the Punjab Stadium on Friday. Faisalabad with 947.5 and Gujranwala with 469 points were second and third respectively. Multan with 374 points was fourth followed by Rawalpindi 320, Bahawalpur 286, Dera Ghazi Khan 255 and Sargodha 98. Provincial sports minister Dr Tanveer-ul-Islam was the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony and gave away the trophies and medals to the winners. Lahore won the hockey title beating Faisalabad in the final at the National Hokey Stadium. Lahore scored four goals and conceded two. Gujranwala was placed third. Faisalabad was leading the first half by two goals while Lahore scored one and added another three in the second half. Rukhasana scored two goals while Bakhatawar and Janat converted one goals each. Maira Parveen and Farzana scored from Faisalabad. Rukhasana of Lahore was declared the best player of the hockey event. In handball, Faisalabvad beat Lahore by 12 goals to four. While Rawalpindi was placed third beating Bahawalpur 5-2. In basketball, Faisalabad beat Lahore 39-20. Bahawalpur beat Multan 26-20 for third place. Lahore beat Gujranwala to win the volleyball title 3-1. Faisalabad beat Multan 2-0 for a third place. In badminton, Faisalabad beat Lahore 3-2.
