LAHORE - Almost all the columnists are playing their pivotal role in highlighting the issues confronting the state presently. These views were expressed by the speakers at a book launching ceremony of Jagty Rahu by Naveed Rizvi here on Saturday at Alhamra. They said the first book Jagty Rahu by a promising columnist Naveed Rizvi was fruitful outcome of his thinking towards his mother homeland. The renowned Urdu poet and connoisseur columnist of Nawa-i-Waqt, Khalid Ahamd said on the occasion that Naveed had awakened us through his columns. He said the nation needed such writings, as this was the source of inspiration for the devastated class. He does not use jugular-words in most of his writings. His punch lines are very touchy, he added. While presiding over the ceremony, Dr Ajmal Niazi said, Naveeds approach is parallel to philanthropy that is the inevitable necessity of the time. He further said Naveed honestly discussed the solution of the issues of general public on grass roots level. Another Nawa-i-Waqt columnist, Muhammad Rafique Ghauri said on the occasion that the writer had realised us to work together by leaving our petty interests aside and extend our mutual cooperation towards the progress of state. A 3rd year student Zara Rizvi, daughter of a writer, said after getting inspiration from his dad, she adopted journalism subject and definitely would continue it as a profession because she thinks, the writers were the real asset of any state. While a renowned young Urdu poet Arshad Shaheen said besides evaluating other issues, the writer stressed upon the government to launch mega projects and show its eagerness in taking revolutionary steps in education sector for the betterment of public. No doubt most of his columns including Wady Pe Wada, Kacha Siasi Najoomi, Hakomat Ka Bihter Faisla, Urea Khaad Kahan Gai and Azadi are written in pure patriotic manner, Arshad added. Others speakers including Sufia Baidar, Sadullah Shah, Nafees Bazmi also termed 'Jagtay Rahu as a marvellous addition in the world of literature and journalism as well.
