Indian homegrown terrorism

After 44 months of dillydallying, India has officially admitted that the Hindutva brigade of the extremist group Abhinav Bharat, of which Indian armys serving officer, Lieutenant Colonel Shrikant Prasad Prohit was an active member, was responsible for the bombings on board the Pakistan bound Samjhota Express. The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squads 806 page charge sheet on the Ajmer blasts says that the February 19, 2007 bombing in the Lahore-bound Samjhauta Express (SE) and April 14, 2006 blasts inside Jamia Majid Delhi, and various similar attacks in Ajmer Sharif, Malegaon, Makkah Masjid in Hyderabad, etc, were the handiwork of Hindu terrorists, and not Muslims as was widely trumpeted by the Indian media. That is another story that Hamant Karkare, the head of the Mumbai ATS had been assassinated by Indian commandos in the garb of fighting terrorists during the November 26, 2008 Mumbai attacks. Pakistan demanded India to share with it the investigations into the train tragedy. FO spokesman Abdul Basit said that New Delhi has always been marked with dichotomy of actions and words, adding India ha wrongly blamed Samjhota Express tragedy on Pakistan. Now, everybody knows who is behind gutting the train. India should shun the tendency of accusing ISI for all its problems, including Nexalite insurgency, which is spread over a large number of Indian districts. ASMA MUJAHID, Rawalpindi, October 29.
