Last week, I had the opportunity to visit a number of relief camps set up in various districts of Southern Sindh including my hometown Larkano, Dadu, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Ghotki, where I interacted with the flood victims, particularly, innocent hungry children, women and elderly men and women. All of them were complaining that no aid, either in the form of food or medicine was reaching them. It was also informed that the revenue officers were taking away the ration and supplies for their own use. Shockingly, at some places, I happened to see the flood items including food getting wasted. This horrendous situation, the crime and corrupt behavior of the officers and of officials must be taken seriously by the govt. However, the President and Prime Minister are appealed to take notice of this criminal behavior of the officers who are multiplying the misery of the flood victims. HASHIM ABRO, Islamabad, October 30.
