Farewell for former PCB chief

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE New Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ch Zaka Ashraf hosted a farewell reception in honour of ex-PCB chief Ijaz Butt at the NCA on Monday. The farewell ceremony commenced with the signing of a formal handing over from former chairman Ijaz Butt to the new chief Ch Zaka Ashraf in the presence of management and senior staffers. In his speech, Ijaz Butt thanked the new PCB chief and staff and said: I would like to thank the President Asif Ali Zardari for his support throughout my term and am sure my friend and successor Zaka Ashraf will receive the same support. I would also thank all the PCB management and staff for diligently performing their duties in tough time. Chairman PCB Ch Zaka said: I am grateful to Ijaz Butt for his valuable contribution to Pakistan cricket as he done great job despite facing many challenges. I will need ex chiefs support in future also for the betterment of game and to bring international cricket back to the country. We have to remove the negativity created because of the spot-fixing trial. I would also like to recognise the chairperson PCB Women Wing Mrs Bushra Aitzaz for her efforts to promote the womens game in the country. I wish Ijaz Butt all the best for the future, he concluded. Zaka Ashraf then presented Ijaz Butt with a shield and a souvenir on behalf of the PCB in recognition of his services to Pakistan cricket.
