MIRPUR (AJK) - Acting AJK Prime Minister Ch Muhammad Yasin has disclosed that the much-awaited Local Bodies elections in Azad Jammu & Kashmir will be held after six months. He was addressing reporters at the residence of the Muslim Conference Central Vice President and former City Mayor Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf here the other night. Yasin revealed that his visit to the residence of the MC leader was part of the spirit of the PPPs policy of reconciliation with all the political parties to ensure their due role in the issues related to the national interests. On the occasion, the acting PM assured the MC leader of full cooperation to help resolve the local issues including the prime issue of timely rehabilitation of all the Mangla dam affectees. The acting AJK PM said that the newly-elected peoples government was keen to hold LB polls in AJK as early as possible under the spirit to devolve powers to grass-root elected representatives of the masses to enable them address their problems. Talking about the ongoing talks between the PPP and the Muslim Conference about reaching to a consensus, Ch Yasin said that committees comprising senior leaders of both of the parties had joined heads to reach to an agreement in this regard. He declared that the policy of reconciliation authored by President of Pakistan Asif Zardari and other top leadership of PPP would also be implemented in AJK in the greater public interests - since the PPP always sought cooperation and healthy suggestions from even the opponents to run the government affairs in smooth manner in greater public interests, he asserted. He added that under the same spirit MQM has been given due share in AJK cabinet after the induction of a member of AJK Legislative Assembly belonging to MQM as a minister. Ch Yasin said that reconciliation among the like-minded political forces including between the PPP and the Muslim Conference in AJK is imperative in the larger national interests. He, however, did not elaborate the national interests. Highlighting the priorities of the PPP government in AJK, Ch Yasin said that the newly-elected regime gave three medical colleges and a cadet college to AJK since its emergence for the last 90 days besides announcing various other development projects of public welfare. The AJK PM pointed out that since the huge natural resources for generation of 8,000 MW of hydel power were available in AJK, the government has started chalking out an integrated plan to utilize these resources for the hydel power production including to meet the local need of 350 MW of electricity for entire AJK. Yasin said that foreign investment in tourism and trade sector in AJK will be invited with prime focus to wipe out poverty through creation of job opportunities for jobless educated youth. Ch Yasin said that high level probe in to recent assault on AJK HC Chief Justice Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal was in progress. He revealed that an accused, belonging to the 'Khaga Rajput tribe of the PML-N AJK Chief Organiser and former Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, has yet been nabbed and being interrogated. The host MC Leader Ch Muhammad Ashraf thanked the acting AJK PM for acting upon the policy of reconciliation with the hope of the implementation of the same without any discrimination for the betterment and welfare of the masses.
