LAHORE - Anti-dengue set up at Lahore General Hospital Emergency Department will remain functional during holidays of 9th and 10th Muharram.
Staff of works department, sanitary officials and lab technicians would not be allowed any leave till November 30. Moreover, portable X-Ray and ultrasound machines have been provided at the beds of dengue patients.
Chairing a meeting on Friday, Principal PGMI/LGH Prof Anjum Habib Vohra directed the doctors deputed at Blood Bank to keep ample stock of blood during Ashura. Senior professors, MS Dr Pervaiz Imtiaz and in-charges of concerned departments attended the meeting.
Prof Vohra asked the staff to be alert on Ashura. He said that additional beds had been placed in Emergency Ward in order to ensure first medical aid to mourners during Ashura. He directed the authorties concerned to improve cleanliness conditions in the hospital in order to provide healthy atmosphere to the patients and their attendants. He said that the performance of administrative doctors on additional duties was being monitored on daily basis so as to serve ailing humanity keeping high standard.
Instructions: Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik has issued special instructions to principals of teaching hospitals, medical colleges, MS autonomous hospitals, district and tehsil headquarters hospitals and EDOs Health for checking the incidents of kidnapping of newborn babies. He said that medical superintendents of the concerned hospital would be held responsible for such incidents. He also directed the authorities to declare labour room and nurseries of the hospitals as no go areas.
According to the instructions, administration of government hospitals has been directed to make foolproof security arrangements; activate installed CCTV cameras; and if required also install new cameras. Only mother and one attendant will be allowed after identification to go to labour room and nursery of the hospital. Administration will handover newborn to parents and also maintain record. EDOs Health will ensure implementation of instructions at district level and the hospitals administrations will immediate inform doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and security officials about these instructions, he further instructed.
