PESHAWAR - KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has announced establishment of zoo in Peshawar besides approving place and funds for it. The chief minister approved Rs100 million for the zoo and also directed for immediate release of Rs50 million for allotment of place.

The zoo will be established at 29 acres vast land of Range Management Peshawar Garden of Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI) adjacent to Peshawar University. It is worth mentioning that Lahore Zoo is covered at 25 acres area and hence Peshawar Zoo will be bigger than it.

The KP Wildlife (WL) Department has been also tasked for arrangement of variety of wildlife species from all over the world for Peshawar Zoo. An agreement has also been inked between the Chief Conservator WL and DG PFI wherein besides best and attractive arrangements for visitors and tourists in the zoo, access opportunities will also be provided to the teachers and students of Wildlife for research activities therein.
