LAHORE  - The Punjab government polices have destroyed the agriculture sector and ruined the farmers, claims PML-Q Punjab President Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi.

He expressed these views while talking to farmers’ delegations belonging to Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock and Rawalpindi at his residence on Friday.  Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that 20 small dams were constructed at a cost of Rs 10 billion, which helped cultivating 20 thousand acres of barren land of Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock and Rawalpindi for the first time.

He added that Taunsa Barrage was repaired and expanded at a cost of Rs 11 billion and, while the effort had not only increased the capacity of canals of Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur from 7,000 cusecs to 9,000 cusecs but this step also helped running these canals throughout the year instead six months.  Pervaiz claimed that revolutionary measures in agriculture sector taken by the PML-Q government during her tenure, Punjab registered record increase in agricultural production due to which people of the province were used to get wheat, rice, vegetables and fruits at cheaper rates.
