MIRPUR (AJK)

Lambasting New Delhi for manoeuvring for sham elections in the occupied Kashmir, Senior Hurriyat AJK chapter leader and Vice Chairman Jammu Kashmir National Front Altaf Hussain Wani on Friday said, “the so-called Indian elections drama in the internationally-acknowledged disputed Indian held Jammu Kashmir cannot be a substitute to the right to self-determination.”

The Kashmiri leader vehemently condemned the fresh wave of state violence by India through the massive crackdown on Kashmiri leaders in the occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

“Detention of political leaders to carry out its so-called elections vindicate that occupational authorities are going to hold a military exercise under the shadows of seven hundred thousand guns to select its own people to serve their interests,” Wani said while talking to newsmen.

He continued that the arrest of Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Chairman National Front,Senior leader Shabir Ahmed Shah, chairman Jammu Kashmir liberation front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sarie, Zaffar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Yousaf Naqash and others reflected the sheer frustration of Indian government and its agents in the occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

The so-called Indian elections drama in the internationally-acknowledged disputed Indian held Jammu Kashmir state cannot be a substitute to the right to self-determination, he pointed out.

He regretted that the flood victims who were battling for survival were asked to be part of this military exercise and the leaders who were engaged in relief and rehabilitation and even during flood remained at forefront in rescue operation were put behind the bars.

Mr Wani said that freedom of expression and opinion was a fundamental right but Indian occupational authorities had not only denied the right to self-determination but the right to freedom of expression and other basic rights.

He urged the International community to come forward to condemn the Indian tyranny and impress upon India to allow international aid for the flood victims of occupied Kashmir.

He declared that India had failed to break resolve of the Kashmiri people who were ready to render more scarificies for their right to self-determination.
