LAHORE: The Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Government has decided to adopt Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab model to address the problems of overseas Pakistanis belonging to Azad Kashmir.

The government has requested OPC Punjab to extend cooperation for establishing an online system assigned to OPC Punjab to deal with the complaints of overseas Pakistanis. 

Secretary Industries of AJK has been nominated as the focal person of AJK to liaison with the office of OPC Punjab.

This was decided during a meeting between Commissioner, OPC Punjab Muhammad Afzaal Bhatti and Chief Secretary AJK Abid Ali. Khawja Daud Ahmad, Director General, OPC, Shabbir Dogar Assistant Director, Haji Ehsan Danish, Chairman Gulf Region National Peace Council and Karamat Khan Overseas Pakistanis attended the meeting.

The Commissioner, OPC Punjab briefed the participants about the working of Overseas Pakistanis Commission, Punjab. He pointed out that in order to redress the grievances of Overseas Pakistanis related to Government agencies, the OPC was playing an effective role under the guidance of Chief Minister Punjab. He emphasized that coordination between OPC Punjab and AJK Government may be enhanced to resolve the issues of overseas Pakistanis.

He invited Chief Secretary AJK to visit the office of OPC with his team to have a glance of working of OPC Punjab wherein all the complaints of overseas Pakistani were being processed online. Chief Secretary AJK asked the Secretary Industries AJK to have a meeting with DG OPC Punjab    to study the system and arrange training of his team.

He further informed that he would write DO letter to Chief Secretary Punjab and PM of AJK would write to the CM Punjab for establishment of OPC, AJK with the support of Punjab Government. Haji Ehsan Danish & Karamat Khan appreciated the efforts of Commissioner OPC, Punjab to resolve the issues of overseas Pakistanis.
