The Federal Investigation Agency on Saturday registered a case against three Nadra officials including an assistant director and five other for issuing CNICs, B-Forms, birth and death certificates on fake documents.
The FIA team also arrested a tout identified as Ikram Butt from in front of the Nandipur TMA office and recovered 20 birth certificates and Nadra registration receipts from him.
The accused told the investigators that Nadra Gujranwala Assistant Director Usman Butt, driver Muhammad Aslam, head clerk of Nandipur TMA’s map branch and four others are involved in the scam. “They used to issue CNICs, B-Forms, birth and death certificates to people on fake documents after extorting big amounts from them,” he claimed.
The FIA has sent the accused behind the bars and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the FIA has registered separate corruption cases against three accused officials of Regional Passport Office Gujranwala and arrested them during a raid.The FIA also arrested an accused money changer Ghulam Abbas for doing illegal business of remittances and money exchange in Daulatnagar-Gujrat during a special raid. The agency also recovered 1,000 UAE Dirhams, Rs250,000, laptops and record of illegal transactions.
Deputy Director FIA Gujranwala Ch Khalid Anees said that that the FIA has also arrested a human trafficker Abdul Hanan from Daska, saying that accused had been running illegal business of sending innocent people abroad especially to European, Middle East and African countries.
MCC claims business-friendly policies afoot: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Sialkot said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan Customs were introducing business-friendly policies for the promotion of the exports.
MCC Collector Raza Ahmed Khan said this while discussing the matters of mutual interest with SCCI President Mansur Ahmed during his visit to Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
The collector said that Sialkot business community’s problems would be solved on priority besides ensuring the early end to the prolonged pendency of the rebate payments claims. He also pledged to ensure early clearance of prolonged pending rebate cases of Sialkot exporters.
Collectorate of Customs Sialkot is providing all the necessary facilities for the Sialkot based exporters and importers, and removing hurdles in motivating them to do their maximum business through Sialkot Dry Port and Sialkot International Airport, he said. He asking them to enhance export from Sialkot through Sialkot Dry Port and Sialkot International Airport.
He added that efforts were being made to provide maximum facilities for the Sialkot exporters and importers.
On the occasion, the SCCI president discussed the core issues of relaxation in availing Temporary Importation Schemes especially import under the DTRE Scheme, clearance of backlog of prolonged pending duty drawback claims and simplification of post clearance audit.
