KARACHI - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi leader Fridaus Naqvi has said that the government’s crackdown against PTI and other like-minded parties has created the impression that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is a dictator.

“It seems that he has forgotten the terms of democracy and acting brutally to hide his theft,” he added.

He further said that the rulers were treating opposition like India treats the people of Kashmir.

Addressing office-bearers of the party at Insaf House here on Monday, Naqwi condemned the arrest of PTI leaders Dr Arif Alvi and Imran Ismail by the capital police.

PTI office-bearers Sardar Abdul Aziz, Dawa Khan Sabir, Khalid Umer and others were also present on the occasion.

He said the party would not tolerate such tactics, as it was the democratic right of every political party to hold protest demonstrations. “It is the theft Nawaz is trying to hide, and he is accountable for this,” he said, adding that Panama Leaks had stuck in the neck of rulers.

He said that PTI workers were not afraid of arrests, and soon the rulers, who were torturing political workers including women, would be behind bars in Adyala.

He further said that every citizen of Karachi stood shoulder to shoulder with Imran Khan. “We will shutdown Karachi if the rulers attempt to arrest the PTI chairman,” he reiterated.
