LAHORE-Taimur Shabbir, son Shabbir Sharif (Nishan-e-Haider), clinched the title of the 1st Pakistan Customs Golf Championship 2016 which concluded here at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course yesterday after a hotly-contested 18 holes stroke play event.

Taimur emerged as the best one in the gross section with an impressive score of gross 72, which in golfing terms is categorised as a par round and results from a display of consistently good golf. Mohsen Zafar scored of gross 76 and finished as runner-up. In the net section, in handicap category zero to nine, Ahmed Zafar Hayat won the first net prize with the aggregate net score of 69, three under par while Jamal Nasir was runner-up.  Amongst the seniors, the top performer in gross section was Javed A Khan with a score of gross 77. Saeed Ahmed claimed the second gross prize, his score being 79. The performers in seniors’ net section were Asad Hameed (winner) and Mehboob Alam (second).  The dominant ones in the ladies section turned out to be Sameea Javaid Ali in ladies gross and Minaa Zainab in ladies net. Sameea is the seasoned one while Minaa is working hard to get established.

In the invitational category, Maj Gen Umar Farooq Burki played superbly to top in the gross section. Syed Abid Hussain won the second gross and Agha Ali Imam came third. Net section performers were Brig Shahid Younis (first net), Shahnaz Moin (second net) and Brig Shahbaz Tabassum (third net). Punjab Governor M Rafiq Rajwana was chief guest at the concluding while Collector Customs Sumaira Nazir, Collector Preventive Zulfiqar Younis, Mian Misbahur Rehman, Agha Ali Imam, Tasnim Noorani, Mian Parvez Bhandara and participating golfers were also present there. In the end, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners.
