SADIQABAD- Water scarcity in Ahmed Wah Canal irked the farmers of Sanjarpur area as they have been left with no other way to irrigate their crops.

During a survey conducted by this correspondent, farmers from different localities including Ziaullah, Noorullah, Habibur Rehman, Nabi Bakhsh and Manzoor Ahmed said that peasants of Sanjarpur area have been engulfed by an unknown fear as the water scarcity in the Ahmed Wah Canal is posing serious threat to their standing crops.

They said that the water scarcity in the canal is damaging the crops at one hand while the clean drinking water is also not available in the area on the other. “Instead of addressing farmers’ problems, the authorities have turned a deaf ear to their cries,” they regretted.

They demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of the situation and order the officials to ensure the smooth supply of water to the canal. “We will be forced to stage protest against the Irrigation Department if their problems are not addressed,” they warned.
