GUJRANWALA - District police launched an operation against beggars while dozens of beggars wrongly posing for disabled persons were shifted to District Jail after their medical examination.

Police spokesman said that there were many complaints about increasing figure of beggars in the city while many of them were also involved in criminal activities. On the directions of the CPO, the police have started a campaign against beggars. As a result, dozens of beggars who showed themselves as disabled have been shifted to DHQ Hospital for their medical examination. The spokesman further said that after the medical reports, all the beggars were shifted to the District Jail.

Meanwhile, Municipal Corporation teams removed the encroachments at GT Road and seized the equipment. On the directions of the mayor, a campaign against encroachments was launched by the corporation officers. These teams removed all the encroachments at GT Road, turned over the stalls and seized all the equipment.

PHA officials and industrial workers beat up each other over a dispute for installing a banner at GT Road. The workers of an industrial exhibition were busy installing banners when PHA officials intercepted. They had a quarrel and beat up each other with sticks.
