Commenting on the on-going protests around the country due to the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Asia Bibi case, Federal Minister for Information Fawad Ahmed Chaudhry has said on Thursday that all opposing parties have come together and the have ensured the government of providing complete support on the issue.

While addressing a press conference along with other ministers, Fawad Chaudhry said that a committee of the government met with Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif to brief the leaders regarding the situation of the country.

The information minister said that the all state institutions were standing behind the government’s stance and now, the opposition has also backed the government. “The opposition has put its weight behind the government, saying that whatever strategy is formulated they will support the government in it,” the minister added.

Fawad said that strategy to deal with the situation will be made with due consultation from the opposition leaders. “We do not want any damage being done. No one should be under the impression that the state is weak,” said the federal information minister.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had presented the state’s stance not that of the government. Fawad said that the government will attempt to take along every political force for the sake Pakistan.
