Six die in Pattoki, Attock road mishaps

PATTOKI/Attock - At least six people were killed and eight sustained injuries in two separated road mishaps in Pattoki and Attock on Sunday.

Three youth were killed when an over speeding passenger van hit a motorcycle on Sunday, police said.  According to details, a reckless driven passenger van knocked down a motorcycle carrying three youth at Changa Manga Road in Pattoki, district Kasur. All the three motorcycle riders including Nazim 18, Waseen 17, and Arif 35, were killed on the spot in the accident and van driver fled the scene.  The bodies were shifted to hospital for postmortem and the police after registering a case against driver at large started raids for his arrest.

Separately, three people were burnt to death while eight others injured when a passenger van caught fire after falling into ditch here on Sunday. According to detail, a Kalabagh-bound passenger van coming from Rawalpindi skidded off road due to over speeding and plunged into 20 feet deep ditch at Jhumat Road in tehsil Jand of district Attock.

The van caught fire after the accident. As a result, three people including 55-year-old Ajab Khan s/o Sher Khan, 56-year-old Ajab Khan s/o Awwal Khan and another unidentified person were burnt to death while Sikandar s/o Safi, Asif s/o Fazl Dad, Zubair s/o Madad Khan, Shumail s/o Tariq, Ameer Abdullah s/o Fazal, Shafique s/o Ghulam Nabi, Muhammad Din s/o Sher Din and 80-year-old Khayal Bibi w/o Ameer Khan sustained critical injuries. 

The Rescue 1122 volunteers along with three ambulances reached the scene, pulled out the bodies and injured from ditch and shifted them to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Jand.
