Lunda Bazaars blessing for poor

FAISALABAD - As the winter season is approaching, the inflation-hit people throng to Lunda Bazaars in a great number. The bazaars of used clothes and shoes have been set up in different parts of city, while, a large number of people, who cannot afford to buy new clothes, were also seen at weekly bazaars especially near Clock Tower Square. People belonging to lower-class and lower-middle class consider these bazaars a blessing as the sky-high rates of new clothes and shoes have made them unable to buy them. Ali Hassan of Madina Town said: The high prices have left no option for common people but to go to Lunda Bazaars. Another citizen stated that a man belonging to lower or lower-middle class could either feed his family or buy new clothes for them. Although these are used items but seem new after washing them properly, he added. However, shoppers complained about high rates of shoes and clothes at Lunda Bazaars too. Stallholders are demanding high prices for clothes and one has to haggle for a long time with them for affordable prices, said another customer Ali Zubair Sheikh. On the other hand, stallholders were of the view that the increase in prices was not because of them. Previously, the developed countries used to send donations generously to Pakistan but now they are sending them to other countries, said one of the stallholder.
