CM for spraying tyre godowns

LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed that the process of spray at godowns of used imported tyres, bus stands and other places be further intensified for the eradication of dengue virus and the scope of this campaign be extended to the whole province. While quoting experts and survey reports, he said used imported tyres stored at different places were serving as hotbeds for the larva of dengue virus, and directed Secretary Environment to visit all districts of the province to review and ensure measures for the elimination of dengue virus from the godowns of old tyres. He was addressing a meeting of emergency committee against dengue virus here Friday. Members National and Provincial assemblies, Chief Secretary, secretaries of various departments and experts were present. The CM said a comprehensive strategy was being implemented for exterminating dengue virus and all out resources were being utilised for this purpose. He mentioned that in the meeting of provincial committee for elimination of dengue virus, instructions were also issued to all Divisional Commissioners to take measures for eradicating dengue virus as well as launch a vigorous public awareness campaign. He added that it augured well that elected representatives, officers and experts were in the forefront of service to ailing humanity and were striving as an ordinary worker for curbing this menace and provision of better treatment facilities to the patients. He quoted report of the Environment Department, he said besides old tyres, the larva of dengue virus had also been found in new tyres lying in the open sheds at different places.
