ISLAMABAD - The political parties have given mixed reaction on the outcome of the All Parties Conference, held here the other day, however they have expressed a hope that the government would implement the conference decisions. Secretary Information PML-Q (Likeminded) Kashmala Tariq said the APC was nothing but a drama and a futile exercise. Things have already been settled between the Government of Pakistan and the US. It would have been praiseworthy and result-oriented, if it was called before settling the issue, she said. To a question regarding implementation of APC decisions, she said the Parliament passed a number of resolutions that were not implemented, adding that Wikileaks had also revealed the governments policy on the issue. No change in the foreign policy is on the scene, as the old one is being preceded. No one wanted to disturb the relations between the two countries and neither anybody asked to stop the Nato supply. There is no opposition in the country. It was just a get-together and show of strength, Kashmala added. MQM central leader MNA Wasim Akhtar however said that the APC draft was signed and it was necessary to be implemented. If it was implemented, it would be fruitful. Otherwise, we will remain in the same crises, he said, adding that MQM would decide what to do if it was not implemented. President PPP-S Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao was quite hopeful that the committee announced in the APC would ensure the implementation of the resolutions passed by the Parliament and the decisions of the APC. It was a mandatory upon the political parties to sit together for the countrys sovereignty. The military leadership has also accepted that the only political leadership can handle the affairs, he added. He said the committee would oversee the governments performance in the light of the resolutions and the declaration of the APC and its monthly report would expose those who would create hurdle in the implementation. When asked, PTI central leader Dr Shireen Mazari said the rulers would be accountable if they did not implement the resolutions of the Parliament. She said the change would come as it was decided that dialogues with tribal people would be preferred on military operation. It was the basic demand of PTI and it was agreed upon, she said, adding that now the government would have to implement it. Spokesman JUI-F Maulana Amjad Khan was of the view that the APC has sent a strong message to the international community that the political and military leadership of Pakistan is united to defend their country. To a question, he said if the government did not implement the resolutions of the Parliament and the decisions taken in the APC, the APC would have no importance. He added that if they implemented all the resolutions of the Parliament, no body could threaten Pakistan. He concluded that it is again a right time for the implementation.
