With reference to keeping the safety of a pedestrian in mind, the authorities are responsible for preventing the dangers a pedestrian may face on the streets. For one, it is the pedestrian’s right to have zebra-crossings available at various junctions so as to regulate the traffic and make allowances for pedestrians simultaneously. At the same time, it is a pedestrian’s responsibility to follow the rules at a zebra-crossing so as to help keep everyone safe. Furthermore, pedestrian bridges at the right places and junctions should be built to provide a safe crossing for pedestrians. There should be awareness programs to educate people about traffic rules along with the rights and responsibilities of the common man.MEHAK ALI NAQVI, Karachi, August 6.
