PESHAWAR -Taimoor Naseer clinched the 45th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa National Ranking Amateur Golf Championship trophy with his gross 7 over par 223 score over 54-holes played here at PAF Golf Course on Sunday.

Taimoor was struggling on both first and second day at second place overall, fought back to win the prestigious title with his gross score of 223 over 54-holes. Taimoor added 75, three over par, to his overnight 73+75 with one birdie and a bogey at front nine and one birdie and three bogeys at back nine.

Top amateur M Rehman carded 227 by adding 80, eight over par, to his overnight 74 and 73 with only two birdies on the last day besides missing strokes on many occasions. Sajid Khan with his gross score 231 (73+75+83) got third position.

In the Net a 7 HCP AQ Bokhari with his Net score 211, five under par, over 54 holes took first position, followed by local boy Inayat Ullah Yousafzai with his Net score 215, one under, and Sadique Rehman with his Net 219, three over par got third position. In 10-18 HCP gross over 18 holes Raheem Bali got first position with 81, followed Jamshed Ahmad with gross 84 and Shakeel Ahmad with 87 gross while in the Bilal Bali with his Net score 67 got first, followed by Dr. Nadeem Khawar with his Net score 72 and Sr. Sameer Kabir with his Net score 75.

In Ladies event Dr Fareedia Naseer retained the Gai Cup by securing victory with her Net score 82, followed by national golfer Tahira Nazir with her gross score of 83 and Ami Qin 87, a Philippines American. There were four top ladies in the flight including Dr Soni Wali, Dr Fareeda Naseer, the defending champion, Tahir Nazir and Ami Qin. In the Under-15 Gross Master Azel placed first followed by Abdullah Ejaz and 10-years old  Ahmad, son of national golfer Maj Arshad. In the Net Mobeen got first prize, followed by Bilal Elahi and Hamza while in the Under-18 gross Steven Qin, son of Ami Qin got first position, followed by Ammar and Azam while in the Net Maaz-ul-Haq got first prize, followed by Hamza Elahi and Obaid Elahi.

In the Senior category gross Col Saud Khan got first position, Col. Asif Mehdi and Dr Abdul Haq second and third respectively. In the Net category Jamalul Hussain with his Net score 181 over 36 holes got first position Col Shahadat Hussain (2nd) and Shehkar A Shah (3rd). In the Veterans Azam Ali got first followed by Col. Nazir Ullah and Col. Saifullah Khan. A total of 103 golfers from all across the country took part in the oldest event of the golfing calendar. At the end, the chief guest Governor Barrister Masood Kausar gave away trophies and utility prizes.
