Unhygienic meat in the market

Through your esteemed paper, I would like to shed light om the unhygienic meat circulating in the market. The unhygienic, dead meat of Halal animals, as well as donkey meat was going to be sold in the open market for public consumption. Recently in Lahore suspected ‘pig meat’ was also sold which was supplied from Rawalpindi. This all situation is becoming horrible.
Doctors said that the cause of the outbreak of gastric diseases was the sale of donkey and dog meat at several meat shops in the area. The patients are suffering because they are not used to eat such meat.
It was sold much cheaper than other Halal meat. Only few people were able to tell the difference between the meats, that’s why they are selling substandard and water-fed meat. It is one of the greatest problems the people living in different areas have to deal with.
I would request the concerned authorities to take strict measures in this regard, the DCO should launched a vigorous campaign to arrest the culprits and health department officials should check all meat shops in the area. DCO should order that the meat at all the shops be confiscated and send for testing. Punjab Food Authority seems to be active these days but they need to cover more areas effectively.
