Islamabad-Islamabad police along with Pak Rangers yesterday conducted a search operation in Bhara Kahu and its adjacent areas and arrested 14 suspects, a police spokesman said.
Following the directions of the inspector general of Islamabad police, a special plan for search and combing in the city has been prepared. Under the plan, search operations are being conducted that include checking at slum areas, inns, hotels and restaurants and Afghan habitats. These measures are being taken to ensure foolproof security during Muharram-ul-Haram and keep vigilant eye on the suspected elements, the police said.
On Friday, Islamabad Police along with contingents of Pak Rangers conducted search operation in areas of Dhoke Jilani, Saban Syedan, Mohalla Qazi Abad, Nai Abadi, Satra Meel, Faraz Colony and Wahidi Colony of Bhara Kahu Police station in which they searched houses, workshops, markets, under construction buildings and residential areas. Police including lady Commandos, women police also participated in operation. The teams succeeded to arrest 14 suspects. During the search operation, a big cache of weapons was also recovered. This recovery includes 13 12-bore guns, four 7mm rifles, 10 30-bore pistols, 2 9mm pistols and 763 bullets of different bores.
SSP (Operations) Islamabad Sajid Kiani has said that on the special orders by the Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, a comprehensive plan of searching and combing has been devised to secure the city during Muharram Ul Haram.
He said Islamabad police would continue search operations in coming days and complete combing would be made of sensitive areas.
Furthermore, ACLC of Special Investigation Unit, Islamabad police apprehended an auto-lifter red handed, and recovered a stolen vehicle from him. The accused Tahir Mahmood was wanted by Islamabad police in many cases. In recent past, he stole a Mehran car from the area of Sabzi Mandi police station and put fake registration number LET-2169. He was roaming on the tampered car when the police apprehended him.
