LAHORE (PR) -  Department of Mining Engineering, University of Engineering & Technology, in partnership with DassaultSystèmes GEOVIA, France arranged an international workshop on “Mining Technology”.

The workshop was held on 28th and 29th of September at University of Engineering and Technology Lahore.

The objective of this workshop was to introduce latest mine design software in Pakistan.

This was the first-ever mining workshop to be held in Pakistan by GEOVIA and it provided mining fraternity with a unique insight into two of the worlds’ leading mining software solutions - GEOVIA Surpac™ and Minex™.

The partnership between the University of Engineering and Technology and GEOVIA drew a host of mine professionals and business leaders from across Pakistan. GEOVIA international was represented by Shoaib Zia and three others. Notable professionals from mining industry and representatives of different educational institutes took part in this workshop.

VC UET Prof Dr Fazal Ahmed Khalid, Engr Khalid Pervaiz (chairman Pakistan Mine Owners Association) and Nauman Kabeer (chairman PUNJMIN) were also present on the occasion.

This workshop will help in reshaping the mining sector of Pakistan. Mining sector of Pakistan is seeing a new boom in the industry as mining professionals team up to standardize and modernize the mining sector. Surpac and Minex launch in Pakistan will not only prove helpful in mechanizing cement sector but also coal and other industrial minerals of Pakistan. Participants appreciated the efforts of the Mining Department of UET Lahore which is the oldest mining institute of Pakistan.
