PPP co-chairperson Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani keep stating every now and then that all judges, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, would be restored soon. Meanwhile, Law Minister Farooq Naek also keeps telling us time and again that the Chief Justice cannot be reinstated, as it would cause a constitutional crisis. One cannot decide whose statement should be taken as the true, credible version of the government. One thing is clear, though; these contradictory statements by the government top brass are greatly damaging its credibility among people. -ANWAR JALAL, Peshawar, via e-mail, August 28.
