PESHAWAR The Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while strongly condemning statement of MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain asking Army generals to take over, has demanded his arrest through Interpol under treason charges. Members of the opposition benches in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly staged walkouts twice during the proceedings of the House, as they were not allowed to submit a privilege motion against Altaf. They also alleged that the Provincial Government was silent over the issue due to fear of MQM. The Provincial Assembly session, which started under the Chair of Speaker Kiramatullah Chagharmati on Tuesday, could not come unanimously on the issue of presenting privilege motion against Altaf. The JUI-F leader Mufti Kifayatullah, while taking the floor on the occasion, said that the politics of target killings in Karachi should be stopped and later moved a privilege motion against Altaf Hussain, the MQM chief, which was not allowed by the Speaker of the Assembly Kiramatullah Chagharmati and gave the ruling that Altaf Hussain issued the statement from London on which there could be no privilege motion presented in the assembly. There are courts in the country and should be filed in the courts, added the Speaker. Members of the opposition benches including JUI-F, PML-N, PML-Q and PPP-S staged a walkout from the Assembly proceedings as a protest. However, later on, the Speaker sent MPAs Abdul Akbar Khan and Pervez Ahmad Khan who succeeded in bringing the opposition members back to the Assembly proceedings. However, sometime later when the Assembly was following its scheduled agenda, a member of the Assembly from PML-N Barrister Javed Abbasi once again requested for submitting a motion against the MQM chief but the Speaker didnt allow him which once again resulted in walkout by the opposition benches. Senior Provincial Minister and ANP leader Bashir Ahmad Bilour, while speaking on point of order, resented the statement of Altaf Hussain, saying that the statement of the MQM chief was not only against democracy but was also injurious to the Army itself, as it was an attempt to weaken its internal cohesion. He demanded trial of the MQM chief under Article-6 and Article-124 (A) of the Constitution. He demanded of the Federal Government to call Altaf Hussain back to the country through Interpol. Nighat Aurakzai said that Altaf should come back to Pakistan if he wanted to play role in the countrys politics. She said that the target killings of Pakhtuns in Karachi were mainly carried out on the sayings of Altaf Hussain, adding that the MQM chief should stop self-exile life and should come back to the country.
