KARACHI - The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) with the assistance of Central Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) secured the release of two kidnapped boys during a raid here in the Pak Colony Police precincts, on Tuesday morning. Addressing a press conference at Avcc office, Avcc Chief SSP Usman Ghani Siddique disclosed that three days ago, unidentified culprits kidnapped the son of noted businessman Zubair Polani, namely Ahmed Polani from Frere area, in the remit Frere Police and demanded Rs3 million ransom for his release. He said that the same gang also kidnapped the son of clearing agent Dr Sagheer namely Huzaifa, from Gulshan area when he was returning home after offering prayer in the limits of Aziz Bhatti Police. The SSP Usman Ghani pointed out that Huzaifas kidnapping also took place three days ago and the culprits demanded RslO million ransom from his family. The Avcc chief said that in the wee hours of Monday, the CPLC chief constituted ajoint team of CPLC and Avcc , led by DSP Noor Mughal and Inspector Mom which conducted a raid on a house in Pak Colony area. When the joint team reached the targeted house the culprits opened indiscriminate fire which was retaliated and in the ensuing development the police arrested one culprit Khair Muhammad and recovered a TT pistol from his possession. However, his three accomplices managed to flee under the cover of darkness, he added. SSP Usman Ghani said that the police recovered the two abducted boys who were bound hands and foot from the house. Meanwhile, the Avcc , in another raid also arrested the culprits, involved in the killing of one Abdul Haddi, who was kidnapped from Gulshan Area for ransom on July 19, 2010. The dead body of Haddi was recovered from an abandoned place after three days of his kidnapping, on July 22, 2010. He said that Furqan Malick, who was driver of the deceased, had been arrested from Manshera. The officer said that the accused with the connivance of three other accomplices kidnapped Abdul Haddi and demanded Rs6 million for his release. Hbwev~r, thel killed the abductee after receiving the ransom to save their identity. He said that following confession of the Furqan, the police later arrested another accused namely Saleem Baloch form Karachi and registered a case against them. SSP Usman Ghani disclosed that in another raid at Bhains colony area, the Avcc arrested notorious criminal namely Ghulam Nabi Lund, alias Ghulamo. He said the accused was involved in 27 cases of different crime while the Sindh government had announced Rs0.5 million on his head.
