ISLAMABAD President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani have directed the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and the Ministry of Sports to keep them aware about the latest developments in the ongoing investigation of spot-fixing allegations against Pakistani players in England.
A source inside the Ministry of Sports informed this scribe that both the leaders directed both sports organisations heads to collect the facts and inform them immediately. The Presidency may take a big decision regarding the change in the management of the board, he said.
The President, who is also Patron-in-Chief of the PCB, is also focusing on the issue and his advisors are asking him to clean the cricket team as well PCB. The high-ups also asked the officials to take measures instead of making statements on the issues, he viewed.
The source further said that the Ministry of Sports is likely to send former Secretary Sports Syed Anisul Hasnain Mosvi with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team, which was formed on Tuesday at a meeting between Interior Minister Rehman Malik and the Sports Minister Ijaz Jakhrani in Karachi.
Secretary Ministry of Sports Aziz Ahmed Balour is not aware about the affairs of PCB and the ministry is going to send Mosvi with the investigation team. Inam Ghani, the FIA director, and Azad Khan, the agencys additional director, have also been nominated to travel to London, he added.
