LAHORE - Taking protests to the house of provincial chief executive, PTI protesters staged the final round of the demonstration on Sunday.

Following the directives of party chairman Imran Khan, PTI Punjab chapter leadership held demonstrations in various parts of the provincial capital against the police crackdown on the Azadi and Inqilaab marchers in Islamabad.

The Lahore district coordination officer imposed Section 144 on Sunday morning, however, the police created no hindrance in the way of PTI activists.

The main sit-in was held under the command of Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and PTI Punjab general secretary Dr Yasmin Rashid along with a good number of party activists near the residence of Punjab Chief Minister and PML-N office in Model Town. The authorities put in place containers blocking all roads leading to the house of chief minister with additional police contingents.

The PTI protesters also halted the operation of Metro Bus at Ferozpur Road, besides blocking one side of the mentioned road by burning tyres subsequently causing major traffic jams. Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Zaheer Abbas Khokhar and Dr Yasmin Rashid held a similar demonstration on Sunday noon at Thokar Niaz Baig blocking the Canal Road on both sides.

Earlier, protests held by PTI leaders and workers at Shalamar Chowk, Baghbanpura and Shahdara Chowk which blocked the GT Road for quite sometime.

Surprisingly, the much talked about final round of this episode which has to end at Jatti Umra Chowk, the road leading to the prime minister and ruling family’s private residence in Lahore, suddenly cancelled by City chapter leadership without giving any reasons.

The PTI protest against police crackdown on Azadi and Inqilaab marchers finally culminated at Ferozpur Road and outside the Chief Minister’s residence.

While the Azadi sit-in at Lalik Jan Chowk continued for the 9th consecutive day but similar sit-in at Liberty Chowk was not held today. The flag waving charged protesters of the PTI across the provincial capital chanted slogans against the government and demanded immediate resignation from the ruling party for the peaceful resolution of the issues between the two sides.

The PTI local leaderships in Faisalabad, Multan, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali Bhakkar, Narowal, Chakwal and in other cities of the province also held protest demonstrations against the police crackdown on Azadi and Inqilaab marchers in Islamabad.

PTI leaders addressing the protests said that PML-N could not save its rule by using fascist tactics against the marchers of Imran Khan and Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri.

Meanwhile, Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) on Sunday staged countywide protest demonstrations against police crackdown on the marchers in Islamabad on Saturday night. 

In provincial capital, a good number of MWM workers gathered at Thokar Niaz Beg and staged protest demonstrations on the call of MWM chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas. Addressing the protesters on the occaiosn, Allama Abuzar Mehdvi said that the rulers could not save their rule through the bloodshed and brutality. He said the workers would not bear the state barbarism. He said if the arrested leaders were not freed, they would protest in front of CM house.

On the occasion, ALLAMA Imtiaz kazmi and Syed Hussain Zaidi also addressed.

Meanwhile, MWM workers closed the GT Road resulting in traffic mess. On the occasion, MWM Syed Hasan Kazmi said that the PML-N had made history of tyranny and violence. He said the rulers could not save their rule.
