KARACHI - Fear and panic gripped the area when some unknown miscreants hurled two cracker bombs on a private university on Abul Hassan Isphahani Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the metropolis Monday.
According to police, the attack took place at 6:30am whereas the suspects managed to flee from the scene.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident as no student was present in the institution.
According to DIG Munir Sheikh, one cracker bomb was hurled inside the university while another was tossed outside the building. Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad took notice of the incident and sought details from Commissioner. He also directed the education department to implement decisions regarding security of the educational institutions.
Provincial Education Minister Nisar Khuhro also directed to increase police patrolling around the schools and university.
Rangers personnel arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar also visited the site.
Authorities have started gathering evidence from the scene.
