Lahore: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said Rangers have arrested Sindh Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr. Asim Hussain under the charges of providing financial assistance to terrorists.
Talking to journalists in Lahore, Sanaullah said arrest of Dr Asim is regrettable. If he is involved in corruption then he should be handed over to NAB and action should be taken on merit, he stressed.
He held there is a need to eliminate corruption in order to root out terrorism in the country.
He further said that Dr. Asim is a trustful aide of Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, therefore, pain felt by him over Dr. Asim Hussain arrest is but natural. He underlined that the entire nation has mandated Rangers to launch operation in Karachi and it is taking action as per this mandate.
