It is the first and foremost responsibility of the police to protect life and honour of the common man.

The police always strive hard to maintain law and order and eliminate the crime but this could only be ensured with cooperation of the public and media.

DPO Kasur Ali Nasir Rizvi stated while addressing the participants of a rally held to greet the police over the killing of two notorious dacoits Riaz Kumhar and Riasat Kumhar. They were wanted by the police in different districts in 68 cases of robbery, dacoity murder and extortion. They were killed during a shootout with the Saddr Police on Saturday on Depalpur Road near Dollaywala village.

The DPO stressed that to prevent crime in the district and ensure law and order, close liaison between the police and public would be ensured.

He said that he would not tolerate corruption in the department and police officials involved in corrupt practices would be made an example. He also directed all police officials to perform duty at police stations and improve their performance to address grievances of the masses. It is best way to win over confidence and support of the public.

Former nazim Sardar Fakhar Ali, former nazim Mohammad Latif, Haji Shaukat Ali, Mohammad Waqas Ali, Pir Qari Hamed Qadri, Pir Liaqut Ali Qadri, Awais Ali, Usman Awan, Mohammad Naeem, Mohammad Awais and hundreds of villagers including traders, social workers, lawyers, journalist and civil society members participated in the rally.

On the occasion, former Bahadarpur UC nazim Mohammad Latif presented a cheque for Rs40,000 to the Kasur DPO as reward for outstanding performance. They also garlanded the Saddr Police SHO Haji Younas.

Meanwhile, a delegation of local journalists comprising Mohammad Ajmal, Zakar Hussain, Tariq Mehmood, Saleem, Anjum Bloch, Haji Mohammad Sharif and Atta Mohammad Kasuri greeted the DPO. They said that the journalist community would cooperate with the police to improve the law and order situation in the district. They also appraised the police of foolproof arrangements on the Urs of Baba Bulleh Shah.
