RAWALPINDI - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has lodged a complaint with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera, against police officers of Saddar Circle, including the superintendent of police (SP), for showing negligence in a child rape case, sources informed yesterday. The top police officer recommended strict action against the police officers who had failed in mitigating the plight of the victim family and the child who had fallen prey to barbarianism of three men, sources added.
According to sources, RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has written a letter to IGP Sukhera against SP Dr Sardar Ghias Gull and DSP Sajid Gondal for showing negligence in the child sex abuse case and not visiting the crime scene. He mentioned in the letter that no police officer bothered to visit the crime scene or supervise the investigation being launched by their subordinates. “The two police officers took the case very light and did not take necessary action. As a result the victim family suffered a lot,” the RPO wrote in the letter. Earlier, three men namely Abu Huraira, Ramzan and Adnan picked up a 13-year-old child and took him to a house located at Dhoke Thatthial on Chakri Road (limits of PS Saddar Bairooni).
They molested him sexually at gunpoint and clicked pictures in their mobile phones to blackmail the child and his family.
Police, on the complaint of the victim’s father, lodged case but twisted the facts in a bid to give advantage to the accused. Later, the accused were arrested.
Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident after it was reported by The Nation and directed the RPO to personally visit the victim family. Following the directions of the CM, the RPO called on the victim family and assured them that the culprits would be brought to justice.
