RAWALPINDI - The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) highly powerful member governing body has continued to misuse his powers by obliging his sons at the cost of merit.
A number of talented youngsters have been destroyed just because of obliging sons of highly powerful PCB government board member. Prior to Arsal, Shakil Shaikh’s elder son Moied Shaikh has also played 40 plus first class matches and his average speaks volumes about his abilities, as he hardly averages 10 in so many matches.
It is pertinent to mention here that PCB official Shakil Shaikh has once again violated the rules and regulations by misusing his powers, and obliged his son Arsal Shaikh, who doesn’t deserve a place in the playing XI, at the cost of merit. With the full backing and support of his father, Arsal managed to play for Lahore Whites against Karachi Whites in the National T20 Cup match played here at Pindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Most interestingly, Arsal, whose main job was bowling, never bowled a single over despite Lahore was in dire need of a quality bowler.
To utter disappointment, there is no one in the PCB and even in the government who may ask Shakil Shaikh that on what grounds and reasons, Arsal was included in the side and what the performances of his son are in the first class cricket, on which he was chosen by Lahore Whites.
The way Arsal played the U-19 World Cup without playing a single ODI, he once against managed to play for Lahore Whites team just because of his father’s backing and misusing his powers.
The sources present at the venue confirmed to this scribe that Arsal was included in Lahore Whites team due to extreme pressure of his father. If Arsal can’t bowl a single over, nor he can bat, then why he was preferred to a number of deserving players, who don’t have a father like Shakil, the sources added.
The cricket lovers have demanded PCB chairman Shahryar Khan to provide justice to the deserving players and launched an inquiry about the forceful inclusion of Arsal in Lahore Whites and take stern action against Shakil Shaikh for misusing his powers as governing board member.
